Overview

Blue Man Group turns to Illustrated Man for online excitement

Blue Man Group needed individual, customized websites and TV videos for each of the almost 100 cities on its 2008-2009 Tour. IM created unique sites, online games and amazing video of the Blue Men that "walked" across the site.

Challenge

The Tour needs customized websites for each stop

Blue Man Group wanted a unique website for each market on its '08-'09 Tour, one that could be co-branded by the local media spsonsors, where they would have a presence via their own web banners, as well as web banners they themselves could sell to their own clients, as a bonus for partnering with Blue Man Group. They also needed a reason to bring visitors to the site, and a contest to capture emails.

Solution

Custom websites, online games, and video on top of a site!

Illustrated Man delivered almost 100 unique websites, each customized with the local media sponsor and market-specific venue information. Also, IM created original online Blue Man Group games - a jigsaw puzzle and a maze game, to attract visitors and engage them on the site. Streaming The piece de resistance was the surprise "visit" paid by the Blue Men themselves, as they casually strolled across the home page and mugged for the visitor! This special video was shot in NYC by IM on HD, with initial editing at HBO Studios, and then final online HD editing at IM. Click HERE to visit a sample Blue Man Group website.

Results

Three National Awards and smiles from Blue Men

This cutting-edge work won three national awards - Two Tellys, and one W3, for excellence in online video, CMS website programming, and for National TV Promos. The client's (Emery Entertainment) forward-thinking idea of a customizable website for each market Blue Man Group played in blew away the local Media outlets, and impressed visitors from across the globe. People were still left scratching their heads as to how the Blue Man Group (video) could walk on top of a website, instead just playing inside a video player. Click HERE to see the site live.
