Illustrated Man recently finished producing a film-quality high-definition television commercial for the Muny in St. Louis. The spot was shot in in genuine slow motion (over-cranked), and the footage was captured at rates almost double to those used in the most recent Star Wars film that used High-Def cameras to capture all of its on-screen actors.

Producing overview:

Commercial was filmed at 60 frames per second, film-style (progressive scan). Captured externally via hardware at 220mbs.

Lighting: ARRI HMIs, KinoFlos with daylight lamps

In addition to primary videography, two motion tests were filmed.

The commercial was color-graded professionally.

The commercial was edited on an uncompressed Media 100 HD system.

Animation:

Over 100 hours were required to create the "plastic meringue beanstalk" for the 5.5 second opening.
